🟢 Adding Drivers Instructions
- 🟢 Upon Enrolling: DOT allows Drivers to be Added that have been in a Random Pool within the Previous 30 Days and have Negative Pre-Employment Drug Test Results in your Company Name
- 🟢 After Enrolling: Drivers are Automatically Added to the Random Pool when Negative DOT Pre-Employment Drug Test Results are Reported by Express Labs MRO
- 🔵 DOT Requires the Drug & Alcohol Policy and Full Query in the Clearinghouse to be Completed Prior to Pre-Employment Drug Testing to Confirm Drivers are Cleared to Drive
- 🔴 DOT Requires a New Pre-Employment Drug Test if a Driver has not been in a Random Pool within 30 Days

- Drivers must be provided with a Full Copy of the Completed Signed & Dated Drug & Alcohol Policy Prior to Pre-Employment Drug Testing. The Policy has a Release Granting Employers Authorization to send Drivers for Drug Testing

- DOT Requires a Full Query in the Clearinghouse Prior to Pre-Employment Drug Testing to Confirm Drivers are Cleared to Drive (Limited Queries Yearly)

- 🟢 Use Quest Paper Forms provided by Express Labs (if online ordering is unavailable)
- 🔴 Drug Test Results from other Companies are NOT accepted once Enrolled with Express Labs
🟢 Supervisor Training Course (Online)
DOT Requires All Supervisors (Including Owner Operators who hire Drivers) must undergo Reasonable Suspicion Drug and Alcohol Training to Recognize and Determine the Signs and Symptoms of Drug and Alcohol Abuse to send Drivers for Reasonable Suspicion Drug or Alcohol Testing. The Online Course can be Ordered for $100 in your Account on the Left Side Tabs
- 🟢 Required if: You hire CDL Drivers who are subject to DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing
- 🔴 Not Required if: You are a Solo Owner Operator with no Drivers
🟢 Deactivating Drivers Instructions
DOT Requires Employers to Deactivate Drivers Immediately from the Random Pool who are Terminated, Not Hired, Seasonal or Unable to be Random Tested During the Quarter Selected with enough Time to Complete the Random Testing with the Re-Selected Driver during the Selection Period. Owner Operators are Required by DOT to Deactivate themselves if they are Unavailable for Any Reason Before being Selected for Random Testing
- Go to Manage Drivers on the Top Tabs
- Click Deactivate Driver
- Click Save Changes then Continue
- An Updated Active Driver List is Emailed to Confirm when Drivers are Deactivated

🔵 When are Pre-Employment Drug Tests Required?
DOT Requires Drivers to complete a New Pre-Employment Drug Test under their Employer's Company Name and DOT Authority Number before Operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) if they have not been in a DOT Random Testing Pool for 30 Consecutive Days or more to ensure compliance with 49 CFR Part 382.301 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Regulations.
- 🔵 Non-Transferable Drug Tests: A Driver's previous Pre-Employment Drug Test from another Employer does not carry over. A New Pre-Employment Drug Test must be conducted under the New Employer’s DOT Authority Number
- 🔵 Owner Operators are both Employers and Employees and have a Negative DOT Pre-Employment Drug Test, under their own Company Name and DOT Authority Number before operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
