Alcohol Testing Instructions
Order DOT Breath Alcohol Tests online or use any Collection Site and email the results to Express Labs.
Order Alcohol Tests
- Log in to your Express Labs account and click Order Alcohol Tests
- Select the Reason for Testing
- Select a Collection Site then click Complete Order
- Check your email for the QPassport (within 1 hour)
- Bring the QPassport (printed or on your phone) with Photo ID to the Collection Site
- Call the Collection Site to confirm they are open and accepting walk-ins
- Members are charged for results not QPassport orders
- Drivers should only sign DOT forms listing their employer/company
Use Any Collection Site for Alcohol Testing
Use any site that performs DOT Breath Alcohol Testing if your test is not ordered online.
- Use the Collection Site Locator or Search Google "DOT Breath Alcohol Testing"
- Call the Collection Site and ask if they can perform a DOT Breath Alcohol Test without an online order using the DOT Alcohol Testing Form
- Bring Photo ID to the Collection Site
- Email the Breath Alcohol Results (and paid receipt, if applicable) to Results@ExpressLabs.com
Alcohol Results
- Ordered Online: Results are automatically uploaded to your account, and a confirmation email is sent.
- Not Ordered Online: Email your Breath Alcohol Test Results to Results@ExpressLabs.com. Include the paid receipt (if applicable) and use “Breath Alcohol Results” as the subject.
Breath Alcohol Fees
- DOT Breath Alcohol Tests: $80
- Invoices are due upon receipt
- A valid credit card is required to maintain active accounts
Alcohol Testing Process
1. Breath Alcohol Testing
The DOT Breath Alcohol Testing process begins at the Collection Site.
- Driver provides a breath sample
- A Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) performs the test using an approved testing device
- The required DOT Alcohol Testing Form is completed
Collection Site → BAT → Initial Test
2. Confirmation Testing
The initial test determines whether a Confirmation Test is required.
- A result below 0.02 completes the testing process
- A result of 0.02 or higher requires a Confirmation Test
- The Confirmation Test is conducted after the required waiting period
- The Confirmation Test determines the final alcohol concentration

3. Results
The final alcohol concentration determines the action that must be taken.
- Below 0.02: Negative
- 0.02–0.039: Driver cannot perform safety-sensitive duties for at least 24 hours
- 0.04 or higher: Positive Results
